Various handmade clay/ceramic fermenting weights - stock is subject to change. Each weight is unique and is separately listed so please click on the drop-down arrow.
All weights are made of clay that is fired at a very high stoneware temperatures around 1260 degrees (which makes them food safe). Despite being fired at stoneware temperatures the weights will absorb some moisture as they are not glazed all over. After use the weights should be washed and then dried properly (recommend drying in the sun or oven). Clay weights should never be stored inside a vessel.
If your weight does not cover the surface area of the jar a cabbage leaf cut to the shape of the jar can be used under the ceramic weights to stop bits of vegetable floating to the top of the brine.
